Welcome to the official website for Child of Mind, the musical project of singer, songwriter and musician Declan Galbraith .
At the young age of just nine, Declan Galbraith signed his first recording contract to EMI. A year later, in the autumn of 2002, his debut album was released. The single Tell Me Why reached #29 on the UK Singles Chart and gained international attention for its timeless message of justice and peace and Declan‘s powerful performance. Alongside being the song to break the Guinness World Record for the world‘s largest simultaneous sing-along, the song was also used to teach English in schools in China, leading to the development of a large fanbase for Declan‘s music there that is still going strong to this day. After spending some time working on new songs and signing a recording contract with Warner Music, Declan released his second album at the age of 15. The album, which had Declan appear on numerous TV shows and concerts all around Europe, became a huge hit in Germany and Austria, reaching gold status in both countries and spending over half a year on the Top 40 Album Chart.
A third album quickly followed which again saw Declan spend many weeks touring Europe for promotional activities and concerts, placing the album on the German Top 40 for 10 weeks. After a tour of large theaters in China where he played with his band to audiences of thousands in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, now a young man and with already three major-label albums under his belt, Declan chose to take a step back and dedicate more time to exploring the writing and production process, as well as exploring other interests outside of music, such as pursuing a degree in social and political science. Periodically, however, he would return to the stage, such as when he was invited to be a special guest within the celebrations around the 2012 London Olympics and the cultural and artistic exchange between the United Kingdom and China. This included a performance on Chinese national television which was viewed by an estimated one billion people. Moreover, after a series of intimate concerts in Germany, where he began to present some of the music he had been writing, he was invited to China in 2017 for a 10-night tour playing to thousands of fans across the country.
Through a desire to clearly signal a new start in his musical career, with his music now entirely self-written and a product of his personal creative vision, Declan chose to perform and release his music through the project name of „Child of Mind“. His 2017 tour of China was the debut of this new chapter and was celebrated with a CD and DVD capturing his concert in Shenzhen. Building on this momentum, concerts and another tour were planned for 2020/2021 but these unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the impact of the pandemic and related measures. Now in 2025 Declan looks to release new music and videos, and with a now large catalogue of self-written music this is set to culminate in a full album. Watch this space!
